Committees

What is an HOA Committee?

HOA committees assist Board members by addressing specific community issues and tasks and serving in an advisory role for the benefit of the community.  As a general rule, they gather information, assess problems and recommend solutions to the Board. If you have a concern, committees are the best place to voice them, because the Board has chartered them to research and make recommendations within their area of responsibilities. Committee members work in tandem with Board members to shoulder some of the duties and help strengthen both the association and the community. 

Volunteers are always welcome to participate in any or all of the following committees:


Communications Committee: Members of the Communications Committee serve the HOA with their communication and writing skills, newsletter expertise, article contributions for publication, participating in meeting discussions, working on email or website project announcements and advising the Board of Directors, in a reasonable and productive manner, on issues related to the development and implementation of communicating information to homeowners.  Currently this Committee meets once a quarter. All residents are welcome to attend the meetings.


Design Review Committee:  The Design Review Committee (DRC) advises the Board of Directors, in a reasonable and productive manner, on issues relating to development and implementation of homeowner architectural desires and changes in accordance to the Design Guidelines of Tanyard Springs HOA. The Committee will also assist with periodical reviews and recommendations or revisions to the Design Review Guidelines, reviews all architectural applications for completeness and guideline compliance, helps maintain property values and promote harmonious living in the Community. Currently this Committee meets DRC meets on an as-needed basis. All residents are welcome to attend the meetings.

Recreational Committee: The Recreational Committee advises Board of Directors, in a reasonable and productive manner, on issues related to the recreational facilities (Pool, Basketball Court, Multipurpose Court, Tennis Court, Tot Lots, etc.) within the Tanyard Springs Community. In accomplishing this goal, the Board of Directors shall assign the Recreational Committee with tasks from time to time, which may include but not be limited to: recommend safety-related recreational facility alterations, define and document recreational facility problems, define desired results for recreational facility problems, develop options to resolve recreational facility problems, obtain community input regarding these facilities, work with Anne Arundel County Police Department or other relevant county departments to implement or enforce County Law on these facilities, and provide recommendations to the Board for committee related expenses, relating to the recreational facilities to be considered for inclusion in the Association’s annual operating budget.


Rules and Regulations Committee: The Rules and Regulations Committee reviews current Community Rules and Regulations, advises the Board of Directors, in a reasonable and productive manner, on issues related to the development of common sense and enforceable rules designed toward the advancement of Community orderliness and curb appeal. In addition, the committee will occasionally research various areas of need where Community rules may require revision, works with the management team, makes recommendations to the Board of Directors to help promote harmonious living among residents, alleviates potential issues, and help retain property values in the Community. Announcements of meetings will be posted through the established forms of communications and all residents being welcome to attend.


Social Committee: The Social Committee establishes a sense of Community in the neighborhood by organizing Community social events, picnics and parties, holiday cookie exchanges and seasonal activities, works with the management team, and advises the Board of Directors, in a reasonable and productive manner, on issues related to the development and implementation of social and recreational activities and programs. The Social Committee currently meets every 1st Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Clubhouse. All residents are welcome to attend the meetings.


Traffic & Parking Committee: The primary responsibility of the Traffic & Parking Committee is to advise the Board of Directors, in a reasonable and productive manner, on issues related to traffic and parking on local public and private streets and parking lots within the Tanyard Springs Community. In accomplishing this goal, the Board of Directors shall assign the Traffic & Parking Committee with tasks from time to time, which may include but not be limited to:

  • Providing the Board of Directors with recommendations pertaining to parking and roadway alterations to promote an increase in safety while maintaining curb appeal and a harmonious environment for residents.
  • Define and document traffic and parking problems.
  • Define desired results for traffic and parking problems.
  • Develop options to resolve traffic and parking problems.
  • Obtain community input regarding traffic and parking.
  • Remain current with county, state, and federal traffic and parking laws.
  • Work with Anne Arundel County Traffic Engineering department or other relevant county departments to implement or enforce approved changes.
  • Provide recommendations to the Board for committee related expenses, relating to traffic and parking, to be considered for inclusion in the Association’s annual operating budget.
